Yorkshire tactics frustrate Nottinghamshire
The game between Yorkshire and Nottinghamshire petered out into the tamest of draws. Yorkshire opted to bat all day and settle for a draw rather than risk defeat chasing a win. Starting the day on 269-2 a lead of 173 a declaration soon after lunch would have left all results possible. Instead Yorkshire batted out the day reaching 518-8 with Yorkshire in a relegation battle and having played a game more than their rivals it was a strange decision. Jonathan Bairstow continued his fine season with 82, Ajmal Shahzad hit 45 and Gerald Brophy 50 Not Out. The draw is a huge blow to Nottinghamshire's title hopes. They face leaders Durham this week and even victory will leave them as second favourites behind the current Champions.
